Einstein’s FUR-ever Home
Einstein’s first week in his fur-ever home was filled with love. He met the rest of his new family and got comfortable in his new home and new routine. Our main focus was teaching him his name, potty training, boundaries, crate training
and of course bonding!!! He is doing fantastic on all! He loves his crate and has even gone in there on his own to fall
asleep. It’s a safe den like place he can call his own. He knows his name and responds readily to “Einstein” whenever we call out for him. He’s had a few accidents potty training but mainly due to owner error and has quickly learned what it means to go potty outside. We accompany him outside and tell him “good” the moment he starts to potty and follow up with a treat when he is finished. He is never punished for going inside but quickly interrupted and taken to the
appropriate place. He is gaining confidence in the yard and running out further to potty on his own. It’s much colder in Montana than it was in Mississippi so mom had to buy him some doggie clothes which he seems to really like. He loves meal time and is learning which bowl is his and not to eat his brother or sisters food with some intervention (body blocking) from mom. This is important because we don’t want his brothers or sisters to have to intervene resulting in any type of food aggression from any of the four legged family members. They all know that mom will take care of it and they don’t have to. He really enjoys his enrichment toys as well. We have started with easily level 1 puzzle toys. The rolling toy that spills food out as he pushes it is his favorite. He has started playing more with his doggie siblings and humans and is definitely feeling at home and getting more comfortable.
